After Care:

Supplies:​

1. Two 1-oz. tubes of Neosporin, Bacitracin, or triple antibiotic ointment​

2. Bath

Caring for the Baby:

​

1. Wash hands well with soap before pampering the baby.

2. The bandage should stay in place for at least 24 hours.  Should the bandage fall off prior to the 24-hour period, provided that there is no bleeding, it is ok.

3. The bandage should unravel and fall off by itself either during the bath, or sometime after 24 hours.

4. Diapers following the bris may be tinged red. This occurrence is normal and should not be a cause for concern.

5. For the first 24 hours, apply ointment around the original bandage on the penis. Do not remove the original bandage or replace it.

6. Later on the day of the bris, or on the next day: Bathe the baby in warm water, gently pouring water directly over the bandage. (If the umbilical cord did not fall off yet, you may bathe just the lower half of the body)

7. Should the bandage get dirty, gently bathe the baby until the bandage is clean.
